On October 30, for date night--our date night is on Thursday during the football season to accommodate the fact that football games are played over the weekend--Krista and I had some fun carving pumpkins! We learned something new in the process: pumpkins are sufficiently acidic that any cuts on your fingers and hands start to really BURN!!! that smarts!
Trivia!
How did jack-o-lantern carving begin?

According to legend, a drunkard named Jack cheated the Devil out of stealing his soul. When he died, following rejection from Hell, he was given an ember to light his way back, which he disguised inside of a turnip. Becoming synonymous with a damned soul, villagers would carve menacing faces into candle-lit pumpkins (turnips etc.) to scare spirits away.
